When you encourage someone and you see they become encouraged it will encourage you to encourage others. When you realize your own ability to encourage all those around you, your own self worth will grow. It is amazing to me how one simple encouraging statement can change someone’s life.

One morning I was giving a two hour lecture to a group of 20 Bank Branch Managers. During the lecture I noticed one of the attendees kept getting up and leaving the room. After the lecture I asked her why she kept leaving and returning to the session. Her response to me was that she was ill and had been throwing up all morning. When I asked her, “Why didn’t you just go home?” She replied, “Because I didn’t want to miss anything.”

Talk about making my day. Talk about encouraging me. I knew right then and there that I could do this. I realize right then and there that I could do this for a living. You never know what you might say to someone today that will change their world forever.

Understand that you posses the power to encourage everyone around you in a positive manner. Be that person who recognizes the need of others to be acknowledged and encouraged. Start to sincerely encourage others and watch how your own self worth and opportunities grow.
