LISTEN UP… it works!
Hi Donald Wayne,
Just wanted to check in and see how things were going and to tell you that I put your preaching into practice. I had a PR/Marketing conference for PRSA today in downtown Cleveland and allowed myself to remember (close to) everyone’s names that I met and/or came in contact with as well as delivered questions while standing and stating my name prior to asking the question. Towards the end of the conference, two agencies commented on my impressive demeanour and offered me an informational interview some time next week for a couple of positions they have open. So, thank you again for coming to the EEC this summer and I wanted to let you know that your presentation did not go unheard.
Also, as a side note, a panel spoke on the importance of business ethics for 45 minutes, but took up the first 20 minutes with their own personal bios…there were only 3 panelists. So, you definitely have more people to help
Thanks again and I hope all is well.
Sincerely,
Pete
Dear Donald Wayne McLeod:
Thank you again for all the time, effort, and energy that you put into the classes at the Auburn Career Center during the earlier part of this year. Your example and advice on how to construct a thank letter has been most appreciated. After incorporating your ideas on using the “you” and the “your” versus using “I” it is amazing that some of the recipients have responded back to me by thanking me for the nice message. Although this period of being “in transition” continues your presentations were a real gem on this journey of growth and discovery.
Have a great day.
Sincerely,
Ray
